Gujarat Police Crack Series Of Daytime Burglaries, Trace Two Accused To Pune
The investigation followed a burglary reported on May 29 at Rishiraj Complex in Balitha, where the locks of a flat and its safe were broken, and gold ornaments and cash worth Rs 2.4 lakh were stolen.
Similar thefts were reported from another flat in the same complex and two flats at Mahalaxmi Avenue, taking the total value of stolen cash and jewellery in the identified cases to Rs 4.75 lakh.
Police also found that attempts had been made to break into around four flats at Gehna Apartment in Vapi. A case was registered at Vapi GIDC Police Station under Sections 305(a) and 331(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
According to the LCB, investigators examined CCTV footage from the crime scenes and surrounding areas after finding that the suspects had used a red Pulsar motorcycle.
More than 200 CCTV recordings along the Vapi-Mumbai route were analysed, leading investigators to obtain photographs of two suspects.
The suspects were identified as 19-year-old Yash alias Gatya Deshmukh, a resident of Pimpri in Pune, and 21-year-old Dhananjay alias Dhaniya alias DK Kale, from Pimple Gurav in Pimpri-Chinchwad.
Police said both had already been arrested by Maharashtra Police on June 30 in connection with a case registered at Kothrud Police Station.
The Valsad Police subsequently obtained their custody in connection with the Vapi GIDC case and arrested them for the alleged house-breaking offences.
Police records cited in the press note show an extensive criminal history for both accused, with cases registered across Pune, Satara, Sangli, Osmanabad, Latur, Mahad and other parts of Maharashtra.
The cases include alleged theft, house-breaking, robbery and other offences under the Indian Penal Code, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Arms Act and Maharashtra Police Act.
Police said further legal proceedings are underway in the case.
