Romania Issues Air-Raid Alert Amid Russian Attack On Ukraine
“On Saturday, September 5, at 23:40, the MoND's radar surveillance system detected a group of aerial targets moving towards the river border with Ukraine,” the ministry said.
It added that Romania's air defense systems were placed on combat alert.
“Two Spanish Air and Space Force F-18 aircraft and a Romanian Air Force IAR 330 Puma SOCAT helicopter were ready to scramble,” the military said.
The National Military Command Center notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations regarding the implementation of public alert measures for the northern part of Tulcea County.
A message was issued through the national RO-Alert system at 00:10.
After no violations of Romanian airspace were detected, the air-raid alert was lifted at 00:42.
