Jordan Reviews Energy, Mining Projects Under Economic Modernization Plan

Amman, Sept. 6 (Petra) -- Jordan is reviewing progress on energy and mining projects under the 2026-2029 executive program of the Economic Modernization Vision, with a focus on clean energy expansion, electricity system efficiency and reducing energy costs.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh on Sunday chaired a periodic meeting of liaison officers from the energy and mining sectors to assess implementation reports and progress achieved through the end of August.

Kharabsheh called for accelerating work to ensure that projects and initiatives meet their targets within the timelines set under the four-year executive program.

Priority areas include expanding the use of clean energy, improving the efficiency of the national electricity system, lowering energy costs and advancing environmental sustainability, alongside continued development of the mining sector.

The minister stressed the need to closely track performance indicators and implementation targets, saying regular monitoring is essential to identify challenges that could affect project delivery.

He also called for stronger coordination with partners and relevant stakeholders to address implementation hurdles and keep projects and assigned tasks on schedule.

Kharabsheh said energy and mining are key pillars of Jordan's economy, noting that progress in the two sectors is important to strengthening the competitiveness and capabilities of other economic activities.
