Landslide Kills 2, Leaves 10 Missing in Eastern China
(MENAFN) A landslide and mudslide in China's eastern Jiangxi province has left at least two people dead and 10 others missing, state media reported Sunday, in the latest of several such disasters to strike the region in recent months.
a news agency, based in Beijing, reported that the disaster hit Ji'an city on Saturday. Rescue teams recovered the body of one previously missing victim Sunday morning, pulling it from a collapsed home in Mingkeng village, in the town of Gaoping.
Officials linked the disaster to days of heavy, sustained rainfall brought on by Typhoon Saudel, which soaked the ground and triggered the slope failure.
