Houthi Missile Strike Kills Four Civilians in Taiz
(MENAFN) A Houthi missile attack kills four civilians and injures nine others on Saturday in Yemen’s southwestern Taiz province, according to reports.
A ballistic missile launched by the Houthis strikes a gathering of civilians along the Heijah al-Abd road, according to medical sources. The attack also causes damage to nearby property, although further details are not immediately available.
Local sources say the missile hits passenger buses traveling along the road, an important route connecting Taiz with neighboring Lahj province and continuing toward Aden, Yemen’s interim capital.
The Houthis do not immediately issue a statement regarding the reported attack.
The incident comes amid a renewed escalation across Taiz, where fighting intensifies in recent days following reciprocal attacks that resume in July. The latest violence ends a period of relative calm that had prevailed since a UN-brokered truce was reached in April 2022.
The Houthis have maintained control over Sanaa and several other major cities since September 2014. Meanwhile, Yemen’s internationally recognized government and allied forces retain control over significant parts of the country’s southern, eastern and western regions.
