Yemeni Forces Retake Strategic Positions from Houthis

(MENAFN) Yemeni government forces recapture several strategic positions from the Houthi group in the western parts of the country, particularly in Taiz and Al-Hudaydah, according to military officials.

The army says its forces make significant gains along the Haifan front, located near the administrative boundary separating Taiz and Lahj provinces.

Fighting across several areas of Taiz and along Yemen’s western coastline reportedly results in dozens of Houthi fighters being killed or wounded. Numerous vehicles belonging to the group are also destroyed during the clashes.

Military sources say confrontations continue on multiple fronts in Taiz and the western coastal areas as government forces maintain their operations.

The army also reports that its troops prevent an attempted Houthi infiltration in the Al-Qasr area east of Taiz city.

In a statement, the military says clashes break out again near the eastern entrance of Taiz, although it does not provide additional information about the fighting.

A series of explosions is also heard east of the city as clashes take place between government troops and Houthi fighters, according to reports from the area.

The Yemeni military further says its aircraft conduct 15 airstrikes on Friday against Houthi positions in Taiz and Al-Hudaydah.
