Ukraine Says Russia Ignores Ceasefire Proposal
(MENAFN) Ukraine says it has presented Russia with a ceasefire proposal covering attacks on Ukrainian territory and clashes along the front line, but Moscow has yet to provide a response, according to Ukrainian officials.
The proposal is personally delivered to Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to reports.
Kyiv also says Russia may halt strikes against the Ukrainian capital only on Sunday, coinciding with the expected arrival of US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.
The two US representatives are expected to travel to Moscow and Kyiv over the weekend as part of Washington’s efforts to advance peace negotiations, according to reports.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Witkoff and Kushner are scheduled to visit Kyiv on Sunday after completing their Moscow meetings.
The latest diplomatic efforts follow three rounds of US-mediated negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv held earlier this year. The first two sessions take place in Abu Dhabi on Jan. 23-24 and Feb. 4-5, while the third round is held in Geneva on Feb. 17-18.
