US Delegation Reaches Moscow for Russia-Ukraine Peace Efforts

(MENAFN) US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, son-in-law of President Donald Trump, arrive in Moscow on Saturday for discussions focused on finding a path toward ending the Russia-Ukraine war, according to reports.

A private aircraft carrying the two American representatives lands at Vnukovo Airport, where Russian presidential envoy Kirill Dmitriev is present to receive them.

Reports indicate that Witkoff and Kushner are expected to travel to both Moscow and Kyiv during the weekend as part of ongoing diplomatic efforts.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says the two US representatives are scheduled to travel to Kyiv on Sunday following their meetings in Moscow.

Neither Witkoff nor Kushner has previously visited Kyiv, although both have traveled to Moscow several times since Washington began mediating negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. Their most recent trip takes place on Jan. 22, when they meet Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin.

Trump says the two negotiators are traveling to Moscow without presenting a completely new set of proposals, but instead carrying an initiative focused specifically on bringing the conflict to an end.

“They’re bringing with them a proposal to end the war,” Trump said, referring to the two negotiators.
