Türkiye, Iran Foreign Ministers Hold Phone Talks Amid Regional Tensions
(MENAFN) Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi spoke by phone on Saturday, according to Turkish diplomatic sources.
The sources said the two ministers discussed "comprehensively" the latest developments in ongoing negotiations.
The call comes as regional tensions remain elevated following the start of US-Israeli attacks on Iran on Feb. 28, which prompted Tehran to retaliate with missile and drone strikes targeting Israel and US interests throughout the region.
Washington and Tehran reached a memorandum of understanding in June covering freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, though its rollout has been held up amid unresolved disputes over security arrangements in the waterway.
