Israeli Soldier Shot Dead by Police After Netanya Rampage
(MENAFN) An armed Israeli soldier was shot and killed by police on Saturday after opening fire in the central Israeli city of Netanya, Israeli media reported.
Officers rushed to the Kiryat Hasharon neighborhood after receiving reports of a man carrying a rifle and firing shots in the area. When police confronted him, the soldier turned his weapon on them, sparking a gun battle that ended in his death. No other casualties were reported.
An Israeli newspaper identified the shooter as a soldier and reported that police have opened an investigation into what drove him to open fire. A public broadcaster reported separately that the gunman moved through the city while shooting.
Authorities have not yet released a motive for the attack.
