Israeli Police Officers Arrive In Uman To Help Provide Security During Rosh Hashanah

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The Cherkasy regional police reported this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

“Israeli police officers have arrived in Uman and, together with their Ukrainian colleagues, will help maintain public order and security in the areas where Breslov Hasidic pilgrims are staying and worshipping during the celebration of the Jewish New Year,” the statement said.

The foreign law enforcement officers will remain in the city until the end of Rosh Hashanah.

During a coordination meeting, representatives of the two countries agreed on joint measures to ensure effective public order and security in the pilgrimage area.

Israeli police officers are currently conducting joint patrols with Ukrainian law enforcement officers, State Emergency Service rescuers and National Guard personnel, as well as providing guidance to pilgrims.

The situation in Uman remains stable and under control, the police said.

As previously reported, Rosh Hashanah will begin in the evening of September 11 this year and end in the evening of Sunday, September 13. According to the Jewish calendar, it will mark the beginning of the year 5787. Around 40,000 Hasidic pilgrims are expected to travel to Uman for the celebrations.
