NCW's Leadership Workshop To Bring Together Women Mlas From 22 States On Sep 7
NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will lead the discussions at "She is a Changemaker", a pan-India two-day workshop on Gender-Responsive Governance for Women Legislators, the official added on Saturday.
Rahatkar said, "Women's meaningful participation in governance is essential for building an inclusive, responsive and equitable society. Women legislators bring valuable perspectives and lived experiences to the process of policy-making and public decision-making."
The programme will focus on effective public leadership and decision-making, gender budgeting, protection of women's rights, support mechanisms for women in distress, effective implementation of women-centric welfare schemes, and the role of Self Help Groups in advancing women's economic empowerment and grassroots leadership, the statement said.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will also attend the programme, the statement added.
Through 'She is a Changemaker', the NCW seeks to strengthen women's leadership capacities and provide them with the knowledge, tools and platforms needed to contribute more effectively to governance.
"Gender-responsive governance is not only about policies for women; it is about ensuring that women are equal partners in shaping the policies and decisions that define our society," the NCW Chairperson said.
The workshop aims to provide a common platform for women legislators to exchange experiences, strengthen their leadership capacities and explore effective approaches to gender-responsive governance, the statement said.
It will also facilitate greater understanding of policy, institutional and implementation mechanisms that can contribute to strengthening women's participation in public life and governance, it added.
The programme is being organised under the NCW's flagship "She is a Changemaker" initiative.
As part of the initiative, the NCW has organised more than 200 capacity-building programmes for Elected Women Representatives across the country.
These programmes are aimed at strengthening the leadership capabilities of women representatives and enabling their more effective participation in governance and public life, the statement said.
