Israeli Army Says It Killed Hamas Field Commander in Khan Younis

(MENAFN) The Israeli military said Friday it had killed a Palestinian man in the southern Gaza Strip, identifying him as a field commander with the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas's armed wing.

Muhammad Mahmoud Marshad al-Qadi died in a strike in the Khan Younis area, the army said, alleging he took part in the Oct. 7, 2023 assault on the Israeli military's Sufa base near Gaza and later helped guard Israeli hostages held in the Rafah area.

Hamas has not responded to the Israeli claim.

Israel's offensive in Gaza, underway since October 2023, has killed more than 73,000 Palestinians and injured over 174,000 others, while destroying roughly 90% of the territory's civilian infrastructure.
