Iran Warns of Faster, Harder Strikes After Shifting to Preemptive Doctrine
(MENAFN) Iran has steadily moved its military strategy toward preemptive strikes since the June 2025 conflict, an army spokesman said Friday, issuing a fresh warning to both the US and Israel.
"When we face an American threat, we defend ourselves, and international law allows us to defend ourselves preemptively," Mohammad Akraminia said on Iranian state television.
Akraminia said Iranian forces struck US military installations spanning from Jordan to the United Arab Emirates in retaliation for American attacks, and claimed Iran also destroyed air defense infrastructure at those bases.
"Some of these bases housed radar facilities and air defense systems, which were destroyed," he said.
"With the destruction of these systems, targeting the occupied territories and the Zionist regime's bases in the region has become much easier than in the past," he added.
Addressing Israeli threats toward Tehran, Akraminia argued that Israel is currently distracted by elections and that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's statements are aimed at a domestic audience for political gain.
Any future Israeli assault, he warned, would draw a response carried out "more easily, more quickly and more forcefully."
Israel, backed by the US, waged a 12-day military campaign against Iran from June 13-24, 2025, striking military sites, missile launch positions and nuclear facilities while killing top commanders and nuclear scientists. Iran fired back with over 550 ballistic missiles and hundreds of drones at Israeli military and intelligence targets before a ceasefire took hold on June 24.
Tensions have flared again since US-Israeli strikes on Iran resumed Feb. 28 this year, prompting further Iranian missile and drone retaliation against Israeli and American interests regionally. Washington and Tehran signed a June 18 memorandum on freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, though implementation remains stalled over unresolved security terms.
