UN Report Documents Forced Displacement Of 33,000 Palestinians In Northern West Bank
Geneva: The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) revealed Friday that Israeli occupation forces forcibly displaced over 33,000 Palestinians from Jenin, Nur Shams, and Tulkarm refugee camps in early 2025 and continue to block their return.
A report titled "Destruction of Palestinian Refugee Camps in the northern West Bank" noted forces killed civilians, destroyed hundreds of homes, cut water and electricity, blocked aid, and conducted house-to-house forced evictions. By October 2025, Israeli aggression destroyed or damaged 52 percent of buildings in Jenin camp, 48 percent in Nur Shams, and 36 percent in Tulkarm.
Displaced residents reported army officers stating that there will be no more refugee camps.
The OHCHR warned that systematic displacement, airstrikes, armored bulldozers, and controlled demolitions amount to collective punishment and raise concerns of crimes against humanity and ethnic cleansing.
During this period, 102 Palestinians, including 21 children, were killed in the camps, accounting for 46 percent of all West Bank fatalities. UNRWA confirmed that 33,362 refugees from these camps remained displaced as of July.
