Zelenskyy Vows No Strikes During Witkoff-Kushner Moscow Trip
(MENAFN) Russian strikes killed four people and injured seven others overnight across Ukraine, officials said Saturday.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, a Russian strike hit an industrial facility in Kamianske, killing four and injuring five, Governor Oleksandr Hanzha said on Telegram. In the Kyiv region, two people were hurt in a strike on Boryspil, according to Governor Timur Tkachenko, who said crews were still assessing damage to a nine-story residential building.
Ukraine's Air Force said 128 Russian drones were intercepted overnight. Russia's Defense Ministry, meanwhile, said its forces hit two major Ukrainian suppliers of military-grade metal products in Dnipropetrovsk, along with logistics hubs, a dry cargo ship, two fuel storage sites and an electronic intelligence facility across the Mykolaiv, Odesa and Kyiv regions. Russian air defenses claimed to have downed 53 Ukrainian drones over Russian territory, annexed Crimea and the Black Sea.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Friday that Kyiv "will ensure the normal functioning of Russian airspace" ahead of an anticipated visit to Moscow by U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff and presidential son-in-law Jared Kushner. "We are looking out for them, not for Russia," Zelenskyy wrote on X.
"There will be no air strikes from our side, and Russia must do the same, ensuring there are no air strikes from its side for the time needed to hold these talks and handle the logistical matters related to this American visit," he added.
Media, citing sources, reported that Witkoff and Kushner plan to visit both Moscow and Kyiv this weekend — the first time either has traveled to the Ukrainian capital, though both have made repeated trips to Moscow since U.S.-mediated talks began. Their most recent Moscow visit came Jan. 22, when they met Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin.
