Germany Arrests Two Suspects After Arson Attack on Defense Company
(MENAFN) Two people are arrested in Munich in connection with an arson attack targeting a company operating in the defense sector, according to reports.
The incident takes place around midnight when incendiary devices are reportedly thrown from a vehicle onto a construction site outside the headquarters of technology company Rohde & Schwarz, which provides security and communications systems to government agencies and military clients.
Police arrest a 28-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man, both Bulgarian nationals, at a gas station. Authorities are investigating whether the two are linked to the attack.
The motive and circumstances behind the incident remain unclear as the investigation continues.
A witness alerts police after seeing incendiary devices being thrown from a vehicle in Munich’s Berg am Laim district. One of the devices ignites near construction containers outside the company’s headquarters, but responding officers quickly put out the fire, resulting in only minor property damage.
No injuries are reported. Emergency crews also discover another incendiary device that failed to detonate. Special forces from the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office neutralize the device, while the surrounding area is secured during the operation.
