Poland Summons Russian Envoy Over Escalating Tensions

(MENAFN) Poland summons Russia’s ambassador to the Foreign Ministry to protest what Warsaw describes as a worsening pattern of Moscow’s “aggressive actions,” according to Polish officials.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Maciej Wewior says the Russian envoy is called in to receive Poland’s “strong opposition to the escalation of Russia's aggressive actions,” according to reports.

The diplomatic move follows Poland’s expression of solidarity with Germany after Berlin accused Russia of being behind an attempted attack at Leipzig/Halle Airport in August.

German authorities say earlier this week that Moscow was responsible for an attempted drone strike targeting a Ukrainian cargo aircraft at the airport.

Russia rejects accusations involving assassinations, sabotage, drone incursions and espionage in countries supporting Ukraine, arguing that Western governments are fueling what it calls “anti-Russian paranoia.”
