UK Condemns Russia Over Leipzig Airport Drone Attack

(MENAFN) The UK summons Russia’s charge d’affaires on Thursday to protest what it describes as a “reckless” drone attack targeting Germany’s Leipzig Airport on Aug. 4.

British authorities say the Russian diplomat is called in following the incident, which London condemns in the strongest terms.

"The UK stands in full solidarity with Germany following Russia's egregious and reckless attack on Leipzig airport," a British government spokesperson says.

The official reaffirms Britain’s firm commitment to its NATO allies and continued support for Ukraine, describing both as "ironclad."

"Any attempt by Russia to undermine our united resolve is futile," the spokesperson adds, characterizing the airport incident as part of “a clear pattern of attempts by the Russian State to undermine our collective security.”

The British government says the meeting with Russia’s diplomatic representative is intended to make clear that the UK, alongside its European and NATO partners, will continue responding to actions it considers threats to regional security.

The spokesperson also says Britain will “continue to expose Russian hostile activity at every level.”
