Israel Releases One Lebanese Prisoner Through Red Cross
(MENAFN) Lebanon receives one Lebanese prisoner from Israel through the Red Cross on Thursday, despite earlier reports indicating that five detainees were expected to be transferred.
The prisoner is handed over through the Naqoura crossing and subsequently transferred to the Lebanese army for medical examinations, according to reports.
The released detainee is identified as Malik Kamal Ghazi, who is reportedly affiliated with Hezbollah and was detained by Israeli forces in Ain Ata, southern Lebanon, in October 2025.
A Lebanese military source says only one prisoner is received through the Red Cross but does not provide additional information about the transfer.
Earlier reports indicate that Israel was preparing to release five Lebanese prisoners and transfer them to Lebanon on Thursday as part of ongoing discussions between Beirut and Tel Aviv, with US involvement in coordinating the process.
The prisoner issue, along with cases involving missing people, remains a significant element of the negotiations between the two sides. Preliminary lists of detainees and missing persons are reportedly exchanged during the latest round of talks held in Rome.
