Turkish Defense Industry Strengthens Position on Global Stage
(MENAFN) Five major Turkish defense companies secure positions among the world’s top 100 defense contractors, highlighting the growing international reach of Türkiye’s defense industry and the rise in its export earnings.
Aselsan, Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), Arca Defense, Roketsan and MKE all appear on the latest global ranking. Senior executives from the five companies also hold positions on the board of SAHA Istanbul, described as Europe’s largest industrial cluster.
Türkiye’s defense sector continues to improve its position in international rankings, with increasing exports playing a major role in the industry’s expansion. Together, the five companies generate $14.9 billion in defense-related revenue, with overseas sales making up a substantial portion of their business.
Aselsan takes 40th place, while TAI ranks 48th and Arca Defense comes in at 53rd. Roketsan occupies 64th position, and MKE joins the list at 81st.
SAHA Expo also continues to serve as a major international platform for Türkiye’s defense industry, giving domestic manufacturers greater exposure and helping connect them with potential foreign buyers and partners.
The exhibition and related platform contribute to the sector’s export growth, facilitating contracts valued at approximately $4.5 billion in 2024 and $8 billion in 2026. These deals support the expansion of Turkish defense companies into international markets.
The involvement of major contractors in SAHA Istanbul’s leadership and committees also strengthens cooperation with more than 1,300 small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that form part of the industrial cluster.
These smaller companies add flexibility to the supply networks of larger defense manufacturers, allowing them to respond more quickly to production requirements and reduce delivery times. Their contribution also helps improve the overall efficiency and international competitiveness of Türkiye’s defense industry.
