Israel Escalates Airstrikes, Shelling in Southern Lebanon

(MENAFN) Israel intensifies its overnight military campaign across southern Lebanon, launching airstrikes and artillery fire in Nabatieh province from late Tuesday into early Wednesday, causing widespread property damage and heightening fear among residents.

Israeli aircraft carry out multiple strikes after midnight on residential buildings in Nabatieh al-Fawqa, with several homes reportedly destroyed in the attacks.

The town of Arab Salim is also hit early Wednesday when an Israeli airstrike targets a room used by the town’s religious endowment at a cemetery. The structure is destroyed in the attack.

The bombardment causes substantial damage to graves in the cemetery and breaks several gravestones. Windows in dozens of surrounding houses are also shattered, adding to concerns among people living nearby.

In another incident in Nabatieh al-Fawqa, an Israeli drone fires a guided missile at the home of Haidar Houmani, an official with the Al-Risala Scouts. No injuries are reported from the strike.

Israeli artillery also carries out repeated and heavy shelling throughout the night around the Ali al-Taher Heights and the area surrounding al-Dabsha Hill on the northern outskirts of Nabatieh al-Fawqa.

Other areas come under artillery fire as well, including Doha Kfar Rumman and the outskirts of Mayfadoun and Zawtar al-Sharqiyah, as Israeli military activity continues across southern Lebanon.
