Egypt, China Ink Agreements to Expand Bilateral Cooperation
(MENAFN) Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Chinese President Xi Jinping oversee the signing of a series of agreements and memorandums of understanding aimed at expanding cooperation between the two countries.
The deals focus on multiple areas, including industrial development, investment and other sectors intended to deepen economic relations and create new opportunities for bilateral cooperation.
Sisi says Egypt and China have a “clear political will to elevate the prospects of bilateral cooperation, particularly through localizing industry and transferring technology.”
He adds that the two countries are entering a new stage of collaboration in several key industries, including renewable energy, automobile production, textiles and chemical fibers.
The Egyptian president also announces the start of the third expansion phase of the China-Egypt industrial zone within the Suez Canal Economic Zone, highlighting its importance to the countries’ broader economic partnership.
The two leaders also express support for diplomatic efforts seeking a comprehensive agreement to bring the ongoing regional war to an end.
Xi says Beijing is “keen to elevate relations with Egypt to broader horizons” and pledges to continue “encouraging Chinese companies to increase their investments in the country and benefit from the advantages of the Egyptian market.”
