Qatar Warns Iranian Attacks Threaten to Deepen Regional Tensions

(MENAFN) Qatar warns that renewed Iranian attacks targeting Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait are creating a dangerous new escalation that could make efforts to ease regional tensions more difficult.

The Qatari government says the latest attacks could disrupt diplomatic initiatives focused on restoring security and stability across the region, while increasing the risk of a broader confrontation.

The Foreign Ministry describes the strikes as a “flagrant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity” of the affected countries and says they also represent a “breach of international law, the UN Charter and the principles of good-neighborly relations.”

Qatar holds Iran “fully legally responsible” for the attacks as well as any repercussions and consequences resulting from them.

The government further cautions that the “continuation of the attacks threatens to undermine political and diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving security and stability in the region.”

Qatar expresses its “full solidarity” with Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait, while backing “any legitimate measures taken by the three countries to protect their sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.”

At the same time, Doha calls on all sides to avoid actions that could “widen the escalation.” It urges the parties to make a “serious return to dialogue and negotiations” and to respect agreements and understandings reached through diplomatic channels.

The warning comes as tensions continue to rise across the region, increasing pressure on diplomatic efforts intended to prevent further military escalation.
