Prosecutor General's Office Responds To Possible Involvement Of Employee In Fraudulent Call Centers

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) As reported by Ukrinform, the Office of the Prosecutor General (OPG) said this.

“All circumstances must be established by the investigation. The Office of the Prosecutor General will fully cooperate with anti-corruption authorities and provide all necessary information within the law. This episode must receive an objective legal assessment in accordance with the procedure established by law,” the OPG emphasized.

At the same time, systematic efforts to combat fraudulent call centers are continuing.

Over the past 12 months, more than 1,050 searches have been conducted, the operations of around 340 fraudulent call centers and more than 5,000 operator workstations have been shut down. Ukrainian prosecutors have participated in 37 joint international investigation teams coordinated by Eurojust and supported by Europol.

A total of 147 criminal proceedings are under investigation. More than 183 people have been served with notices of suspicion, while indictments against 93 people have been sent to court. The amount of damage inflicted on victims has been established at tens of millions of hryvnias.

“The Office of the Prosecutor General employee whose possible involvement in unlawful activity is being investigated will be suspended from performing official duties for the duration of the pretrial investigation,” the OPG said.

As Ukrinform reported, the NABU and SAPO are conducting a special operation to expose a criminal organization allegedly led by an official of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, which is reportedly involved in providing protection to a network of fraudulent call centers and laundering assets.
