Odesa Region Recruitment Officer Suspected Of Hitting Child And Fleeing Crash Scene


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) An employee of a territorial recruitment and social support center is suspected of being involved in the crash, Ukrinform reports, citing the Odesa region police.

According to the report, the incident occurred on September 3.

"According to preliminary reports, investigators established that an employee of the district territorial recruitment and social support center who was carrying out military mobilization notification duties hit a two-and-a-half-year-old boy when the child moved away from his father, with whom he had been standing on the road, and then fled the scene of the road accident," the police said.

According to police, the boy sustained bodily injuries and was taken to hospital.

Investigators entered information about the incident into the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations under Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of traffic safety or vehicle operation rules by drivers resulting in bodily injuries) and Article 135 (abandonment of a person in danger).

"The driver has been detained in accordance with the established legal procedure," police added.

The investigation is ongoing, and the full circumstances of the accident are being established.
