Omar Abdullah Meets Amit Shah, Discusses Statehood, Reservations


(MENAFN- Kashmir Observer) Srinagar- Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi and discussed several key issues concerning the Union Territory, including restoration of Statehood, rationalisation of reservations and finalisation of the Transaction of Business Rules.

The meeting also covered other matters related to public welfare and development, the Office of the Chief Minister said.

In a post on X, the Chief Minister's Office said the discussions focused on“restoration of Statehood, finalisation of the Transaction of Business Rules, rationalisation of reservations” and other important issues concerning Jammu and Kashmir.

Omar also briefed the Union Home Minister about the first International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir (IFFJK), scheduled to begin in Srinagar next week.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister also thanked Shah for the timely assistance being extended to Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of flood-related damage reported from several areas.

Restoration of Statehood has remained a key demand of the Jammu and Kashmir Government, with the issue being repeatedly raised with the Centre.

The meeting comes amid the J&K Government's continued efforts to pursue restoration of Statehood and address other pending issues concerning the Union Territory.

The discussions also come ahead of the International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir, which is scheduled to be held in Srinagar from September 7 to 10.
