These districts include: Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Shivpuri, Gwalior, Guna and Ashoknagar.
Moderate rain with light thunderstorm and lightning is expected over Agar Malwa, Shajapur, Rajgarh, Ujjain, Mahakaleshwar, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ratlam, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Dewas and Indore districts.
Rainfall intensity in these areas is forecast between 5-15 mm per hour, with a 30-60 per cent probability of cloud-to-ground lightning.
Light rain is likely over Sehore, Vidisha, Bhopal, Sagar, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Harda, Khandwa, Khargone, Barwani, Burhanpur, Alirajpur, Jhabua, Betul, Singrauli, Sidhi and Chhatarpur districts, with intensity below 5 mm per hour and less than 30 per cent chance of lightning.
The IMD has cautioned that very heavy rainfall may lead to waterlogging, disruption of traffic, damage to weak structures and temporary impact on power supply and communication networks.
In areas receiving heavy rain, similar disruptions on a relatively lower scale are possible.
Authorities have advised people to avoid travel through waterlogged stretches, stay away from weak trees and electric poles, and refrain from taking shelter under trees during thunderstorms.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has directed all district collectors to remain on high alert in view of the heavy rainfall warning issued for several districts of Madhya Pradesh.
He laid stress on the need for advance preparedness and instructed the district administration to mobilise necessary resources, deploy staff and ensure the availability of relief and rescue equipment to deal with any potential situation arising from the expected rain.
Chief Minister Yadav specifically called for heightened vigilance on Friday and Saturday, particularly in the northern parts of the state.
He directed local administrations to stay fully alert and take all necessary precautionary measures in the public interest without delay.
