Crypto Market Cap Nears $3 Trillion As Digital Assets Rally
The crypto market cap is fast approaching $3 trillion U.S. as the price of Bitcoin (CRYPTO: $BTC), the largest cryptocurrency, has again broken above $80,000 U.S.
The market cap is also swelling as smaller altcoins and memecoins post double-digit gains, with Dogecoin (CRYPTO: $DOGE) rising 10% on Sept. 3.
The market capitalization is based on the prices and available supply of all cryptocurrencies currently in circulation.
The market capitalization of just under $3 trillion U.S. is a major recovery from the start of the year.
In mid-January, the crypto market cap stood at $3.4 trillion U.S. It then fell as low as $2.05 trillion U.S. at the end of June when Bitcoin was trading at $58,000 U.S.
The all-time high for the global cryptocurrency market capitalization was $4.27 trillion U.S. reached on Oct. 6, 2025, when Bitcoin's price hit a record high of just over $126,000 U.S.
BTC was trading at $79,500 U.S. on Sept. 4, having risen as high as $82,000 U.S. overnight.
