North Macedonia's FM In Kyiv: US And Europe Must Work Together To Achieve Peace
“This is my first visit to Kyiv. And I am truly proud to be here in Kyiv with you today. I came with a very simple message from my country and the Macedonian people: we stand with Ukraine,” Mucunski said.
He added that North Macedonia had provided Ukraine with political, military, financial and humanitarian assistance since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion.
“As a committed NATO ally, we will continue to contribute to our collective efforts. But we all also understand that wars ultimately have to end. We strongly support diplomatic efforts involving our strategic partner, the United States of America, aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace,” Mucunski said.
According to Mucunski, US leadership matters, and European leadership also matters when it comes to fulfilling its share of the responsibility,“because Ukraine's security is Europe's security.”
The North Macedonian Foreign Minister also noted that what is happening in Ukraine will shape the security of the continent for years to come – from Kyiv to the Western Balkans and across the entire transatlantic space.
“American leadership and European responsibility must work together. That is how we strengthen deterrence today. That is how we create the conditions for peace tomorrow. And that is how we create lasting peace,” the diplomat said.
