Foreign Ministry Announces Arrival Of Bodies Of Nine Citizens Killed In Egypt Bus Crash
Amman, Sept. 4 (Petra)-- The Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs announced that the bodies of nine Jordanian citizens arrived in the Kingdom on Friday morning after they died in a traffic accident involving a bus carrying Jordanian and Egyptian passengers on the Nuweiba–Dahab road in the Arab Republic of Egypt early Wednesday, September 2.
The accident resulted in the deaths of 10 Jordanian citizens and injuries to 11 others.
Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Fouad Al-Majali said the ministry, through its Operations Directorate and the Jordanian Embassy in Egypt, and in coordination with the relevant Jordanian authorities and the competent Egyptian authorities, followed up on arrangements to repatriate the victims' bodies to Jordan.
He noted that the body of one of the victims was buried in Egypt at the request of her family.
Al-Majali also said that arrangements were being made to transfer the injured to Jordan, depending on their health conditions and medical reports, and following coordination with the relevant medical authorities in Egypt.
He expressed Jordan's appreciation for the efforts of Egyptian institutions, their cooperation, and the facilities they provided in following up on the condition of the injured and facilitating the repatriation of the victims' bodies.
Al-Majali also conveyed the Kingdom's sincere condolences to the families of the Egyptian citizens who died in the accident and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
He renewed his condolences and sympathy to the families of the Jordanian victims, praying that God grant the deceased His mercy and wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
