Son Of Former Sri Lankan President Arrested In Bribery Probe
COLOMBO, Sept 4 (Xinhua) -- Namal Rajapaksa, the eldest son of former Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, was arrested on Friday by the country's bribery investigation body in connection with an alleged bribery incident involving the purchase of wide-body aircraft for SriLankan Airlines.
Namal Rajapaksa appeared before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption to provide a statement after being summoned for questioning, local media reported.
He was taken into custody following several hours of questioning, the report said. Investigations into the alleged aircraft transaction are continuing.
