Qatar Participates In Ministerial Level Meetings Of 118Th Session Of The Economic And Social Council

DOHA: The State of Qatar participated in the meetings of the 118th Ordinary Session of the Economic and Social Council at the ministerial level, held at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo, with the participation of the heads and members of Arab delegations.

The Qatari delegation was chaired by Dr Saud bin Abdullah Al Attiyah, Deputy Undersecretary for Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Finance.

The Council's agenda covered a number of economic and social issues, foremost among them preparations for the economic and social dossier of the Council of the League of Arab States at summit level, progress in completing the requirements for the Greater Arab Free Trade Area, and developments relating to the Arab Customs Union.

The agenda also reviewed the harmonisation of legislation governing intra-Arab trade. It further addressed logistical integration and Arab food security, as well as strategic planning for social policies in Arab countries. In addition, discussions focused on strengthening Arab cooperation in the digital transformation of public financial management and the exchange of expertise in implementing electronic financial systems.

The meeting also reviewed reports from ministerial councils and committees, as well as matters relating to organisations and institutions involved in joint Arab action, along with a number of periodic reports.
