U.S. Dollar Ticks Down

NEW YORK: The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Thursday. The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, fell 0.69 percent to 98.91 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro rose to 1.1635 dollars from 1.1586 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound advanced to 1.3539 dollars from 1.3487 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 155.5 Japanese yen, lower than 158.94 Japanese yen in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar lost to 0.8068 Swiss francs from 0.8133 Swiss francs, and it lost to 1.3788 Canadian dollars from 1.3841 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar was down to 9.5365 Swedish Kronor from 9.625 Swedish Kronor.
