Anner Paldor

Anner Paldor is the Don Jones Assistant Professor in Hydrogeology. Anner studies the dynamics of groundwater interactions with other components of the hydrologic cycle, such as surface water and the atmosphere. He is interested in how these interactions change with time and space – from headwaters to coasts and to the oceans. His primary research tools are physics-based and statistical modeling, and geospatial analyses. Anner aspires to advance our understanding of hydrologic systems under changing conditions to inform policymakers and stakeholders on water resources management, coastal resilience, and earth-surface stability. These pressing issues are of immense societal importance, and Anner attempts to empower the mitigation of current and future environmental challenges through groundbreaking research on water-related topics.

Anner teaches courses on hydrology, hydrologic modeling, and environmental issues related to hydrological systems. He believes teaching is an important way to indirectly increase societal preparedness for environmental challenges by training young professionals in the field of hydrology.

Apart from academic research and teaching, Anner tries to give back to the community through voluntary outreach. He is passionate about our environment, the water we drink, and the air we breathe, and often participates in communal cleaning activities with his family. In his spare time, Anner loves hiking, biking, and rock climbing.
