Professor Shelley Marshall is the Deputy Dean of the RMIT School of Law. She was awarded an RMIT Vice-Chancellor's Senior Research Fellowship in 2017, an Australian Research Council DECRA Fellowship in 2020 and an Australian Research Council Discovery Grant in 2024.

Shelley is a cross-disciplinary scholar. She earned her PhD from ANU for her research into insights from regulatory theory for transnational labour regulation. She holds a Masters in development studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science, supported by a Commonwealth Scholarship. She received Law and Arts degrees with honours from the University of Melbourne.

Shelley has been the principal investigator and co-coordinator of three large, multi-country grants that concern human rights impacts and how best to address them through regulatory innovation. Her research has informed labour law reform in several countries and the policies of the International Labour Organisation. She was a co-founder of the Australian Corporate Accountability Network which brings hundreds of organisations and academics together to increase the responsibility of business for human rights.
