Jordan Showcases Renewable Projects At Dubai Energy Summit
Amman, Sept. 3 (Petra) - A "successful" energy transition requires technology, investments, and infrastructure, and spending on human capital, skills development, and empowering youth and women to "actively" engage in shaping and leading the sector's future, Energy Ministry Secretary-General Amani Azzam on Thursday said.
Highlighting Jordan's progress at Dubai's Intersolar Middle East 2026 conference, Azzam noted that renewable energy generated roughly 26.3 percent of the Kingdom's electricity by the end of 2025, alongside ongoing expansions into energy storage, smart grids, and green hydrogen.
To sustain this growth, she called for bridging the gap between education and job market needs to prepare the national workforce for emerging technical roles. She also pointed out that high educational attainment among Jordanian women has not yet translated into equal economic participation, urging "greater" career and leadership opportunities for women in the sector.
Azzam stressed that a "fair" energy transition must prioritize the workforce, advocating for unified efforts between public institutions, universities, private firms, and international partners.
Her presentation featured a video showcasing efforts by the ministry's Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund to bring sustainable energy solutions to local communities across Jordan.
