Education Ministry Prohibits All Forms Of Punishment Against Students
Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) stressed the need to adhere to the code of ethics of employees in public schools, emphasizing the prohibition of any form of punishment towards students.
The Ministry said in a circular released by the School and Student Affairs Department directed at principals of public schools that, per the code of ethics, officials must adhere to values and professional and educational practices in handling students and maintaining their dignity and mental and physical health.
MoEHE also underlines the prohibition of punishing students in all forms, including physical, verbal and mental punishments, as well as all other abuse practices that negatively impact students and their educational environment. It stressed the importance of handling behavioral violations towards students with appropriate educational methods, based on policies, regulations and circulars approved in this regard.
The School and Student Affairs Department called on employees working in public schools to adhere to these instructions, noting that abusers will be held accountable based on the policies and regulations.
The Department praised at the same time efforts made to support the educational process and provide a safe and supportive educational environment for students.
