Tejashwi Slams Centre, Bihar Govt Over Floods, Says No Permanent Solution In Sight

(MENAFN- IANS) Patna, Sep 3 (IANS) Bihar Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav on Thursday launched a scathing attack on both the state and Central governments over the worsening flood situation, alleging their failure to devise a permanent solution to a crisis that comes every year.

He said the situation on the ground was extremely serious and called for all possible measures and robust arrangements to ensure the safety and rescue of flood-affected residents.

He alleged that neither the Bihar government nor the Centre was serious about finding a permanent solution to the recurring flood crisis.

He said the governments have failed to adopt a long-term vision, leaving people to face the same disaster year after year.

Tejashwi Yadav announced that he would visit flood-affected areas of his assembly constituency, Raghopur, to assess the situation on the ground and meet residents affected by the floods.

He said he would subsequently review relief and rescue operations after discussions with local officials and the concerned ministers.

He also vowed to raise the issue strongly before the government and press for effective measures to address the difficulties faced by flood-affected people.

Targeting the ruling Janata Dal (United), Tejashwi predicted that the party would cease to exist in the near future. He alleged that a group of leaders was working to sideline former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Targeting JD(U) National Working President Sanjay Jha, whom he referred to as having earlier been associated with the BJP, Tejashwi alleged that the“coterie” was preparing to merge the JD(U) with the BJP.

Tejashwi Yadav also described the state government as“anti-poor”,“anti-people” and a“government that peddles lies”, while raising the issue of electricity bills. He questioned the government's claim of providing 125 units of free electricity, alleging that ordinary consumers were instead receiving excessively high bills.

He accused the government of first increasing electricity tariffs and then burdening people with inflated bills. Tejashwi alleged that the government was making promises without delivering meaningful relief to the poor.

Commenting on India's economic performance and GDP figures, Tejashwi Yadav attacked the Centre, claiming that India continues to lag behind several countries in terms of per capita income.

He alleged that the Centre was presenting an overly positive picture of the economy while drawing thousands of crores of rupees from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
