JAKARTA, Sept 3 (NNN) -- A Garuda Indonesia aircraft carrying 149 passengers and crew landed safely at Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport, Makassar, today after experiencing a tyre issue during its flight from Jakarta.

Director General of Civil Aviation at Indonesia's Ministry of Transportation Lukman F Laisa said the Boeing 737-800, flight number GA604, landed safely at 9.13 am local time, with all 141 passengers and eight crew members reported safe.

"Based on initial inspection, the tyre on number three main wheel was found to have burst."

“The aircraft was subsequently towed from the runway to the parking area for further inspection and repair work, including replacement of the main wheel,” he said in a statement on Thursday.

The aircraft, bearing registration number PK-GFS, had earlier departed from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta.

Lukman said the ministry continued to coordinate with the technical team to conduct further inspections and repair work, while monitoring the operation of the aircraft to ensure the safety of flight operations.

“Flight safety and security remain the top priorities of Indonesia's aviation authorities,” he said.
