J&K Crime Branch Files Chargesheet Against Two Accused In Land Record Fraud Case
A statement said, "The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Jammu Crime Branch, has filed a chargesheet before the Court of Additional District and Sessions Judge (Anti-Corruption Court) Udhampur against Allah Din, the son of Dalmir and a resident of Battal Balian in Udhampur, and Joginder Kumar Sawhney (now dead), the then Udhampur Tehsildar, in connection with allegations of cheating, forgery and manipulation of revenue records."
The case was registered on the basis of a written complaint lodged by Shamas Din, the son of Noor Jamal and a resident of Battal tehsil in Udhampur district.
The complainant alleged that accused Allah Din had fraudulently changed his father's name in the revenue records, on the basis of the altered parentage, unlawfully claimed ancestral property belonging to the complainant.
During the course of investigation, evidence collected established that accused Allah Din allegedly changed his parentage from Dalmir to Baghu, in connivance with Joginder Kumar Sawhney, the then Udhampur Tehsildar.
The case was investigated by Deputy Superintendent of Police Aakash Kohli, who led the investigation and examined the relevant revenue records and other evidence.
On the basis of the evidence and material brought on record during investigation, the allegations were found to be substantiated.
Accordingly, the investigation was concluded with the filing of a chargesheet before the court against accused Allah Din and Joginder Kumar Sawhney for offences punishable under Sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of the Ranbir Penal Code read with Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2006, along with the list of witnesses and seized documents, for judicial determination.
SSP Crime Branch EOW Jammu, Faisal Qureshi, has advised to remain vigilant against such economic frauds and report any such incident to SSP Crime Branch EOW Jammu.
