Amman, Sept. 3 (Petra) -- Jordan's national boxing team is stepping up its final preparations for the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, with ambitions of competing strongly and securing medals at the continental event.

The Games will be held from Sept. 19 to Oct. 4, with the boxing competitions scheduled for Sept. 21-Oct. 2.

The national team comprises Mohammad Abu Jaja, Hussein Ashish, Huthaifa Ashish, Ziad Ashish, Mays Abu Khadija and Hanan Nassar, under coaches Scott Dagoberto and Odai Alhindawi.

The team is currently holding a training camp in Thailand as part of the final phase of its preparation program, focusing on reaching peak physical and technical readiness ahead of the competition.

Coach Dagoberto said preparations are progressing according to plan, adding that the team is aiming for strong performances and medals in line with the high level of Jordanian boxing in Asia.

He noted that the Asian Games will feature fierce competition, with some of the world's leading boxers taking part, particularly from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, countries with long-standing boxing traditions and highly developed programs. The level of competition, he said, requires Jordanian boxers to approach every bout with maximum focus and readiness.

Dagoberto added that the Thailand camp is providing the team with an opportunity to intensify training and participate in practice bouts, helping the boxers gain experience, adapt to different technical styles, and reach the highest possible level of readiness before the Games.
