Old Naxal Weapons, Explosives Unearthed In Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur Forest

(MENAFN- IANS) Narayanpur, Sep 3 (IANS) Security forces achieved a significant breakthrough on Wednesday when a joint team of Narayanpur (Chhattisgarh) Police and the Border Security Force (BSF) recovered a cache of old Naxalite weapons, ammunition and explosives from the dense Hachekoti forest area of the district.

The recovery was made during an intensive search operation conducted on September 2 under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Sandeep Patel and Battalion Commandant of BSF, Mukesh Kumar. Additional Superintendent of Police (Operations) Akshay Sabdra provided operational assistance in supervision.

The team thoroughly combed the suspected location in the inaccessible forest terrain and discovered materials previously hidden by Naxalites. Among the items recovered were one rusted and buttless.315 rifle, 16.315 cartridges, two.303 cartridges, four 7.62 mm cartridges, one 5.56 mm cartridge and 18 twelve-bore cartridges.

The forces also seized six electric detonators, two bundles of commercial cordtex, Naxalite literature, flexible wire, LED lights and two pouch strips.

Officials said the discovery showed the persistent presence of remnants of Naxalite activity even in areas that have been freed from active Maoist influence.

Narayanpur district has been declared free of Naxalite activities, yet security forces have been systematically conducting search and area domination operations in interior and forested zones to locate and neutralise old dumps of weapons and explosives.

The joint operations by Narayanpur Police and the BSF form part of a sustained drive to ensure complete safety in the region. Forces are focusing on thorough searches of forests and remote areas where Naxalites had earlier concealed arms and explosive materials.

The recovery and subsequent deactivation of the Hachekoti cache is being described as an important step in further consolidating security. Police and BSF units remain on high alert and continue coordinated searches across the district.

Authorities emphasised that the objective is not only to recover leftover weapons but also to eliminate any possibility of their reuse and to maintain lasting peace in the interior areas.

The latest success demonstrates the effectiveness of continuous joint efforts and the determination of security forces to leave no remnant of Naxalite activity unaddressed in Narayanpur.
