Rather than adapting a traditional clinical environment for younger patients, every element of the clinic has been considered through the eyes of a child, from how they experience the space to how treatments are explained and delivered. At the heart of Sunshine Land are four treatment rooms themed around original characters: Bon-Bon, Katty, Rory and Coco, alongside a dedicated sensory room created to provide a calmer and more adaptable environment for children of determination and those with sensory sensitivities. The characters are more than a design feature. Each plays a role in helping children understand and remember the four foundations of a healthy mouth: brushing twice a day, flossing daily, attending regular dental visits, and making healthy food choices. By bringing education into stories and characters children can relate to, Sunshine Land aims to make healthy habits easier to understand, remember, and continue at home. “I built this as a dentist, but I understand it as a mother.
