Malaysia Airlines Resumes Direct Kuala Lumpur-Fukuoka Flights

(MENAFN- Bangladesh Monitor) Dhaka: Malaysia Airlines has resumed direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Fukuoka, restoring a nonstop link to Japan's Kyushu region and expanding its network between Malaysia and Japan.

The airline's first flight, MH56, departed Kuala Lumpur International Airport on September 2 aboard a Boeing 737-8 and arrived in Fukuoka the following morning. The outbound flight recorded an 88 percent load factor, while the return service posted 90 percent, reflecting strong initial demand.

The revived route will operate up to five times a week, bringing Malaysia Airlines' total weekly flights to Japan to 26, including existing services to Tokyo and Osaka.

The Fukuoka connection also expands travel options through the airline's partnership with Japan Airlines. Passengers can connect from Fukuoka to several Japanese destinations, including Sapporo, Kagoshima, Miyazaki, Kochi, Matsuyama and Yakushima, through Japan Airlines-operated domestic services.

For Japanese travelers, Kuala Lumpur will serve as a gateway to destinations across Malaysia, Southeast Asia, South Asia and Australasia.

Malaysia Airlines said the resumed service also supports the country's tourism efforts during Visit Malaysia 2026 and strengthens its joint business partnership with Japan Airlines.

The airline's return to Fukuoka was marked by ceremonies at both Kuala Lumpur and Fukuoka airports, including a water cannon salute upon arrival.
