Michael Macfarlane Associates Names Joe Wallen As India Head

(MENAFN- PRovoke) MUMBAI - Michael Macfarlane Associates (MMA) has appointed Joe Wallen as partner and head of India, as the London-headquartered reputation strategy firm expands its presence across India and the wider Asian region.

Mumbai-based Wallen will lead MMA's South Asia business, advising founders, business families, investors, corporates and institutions, as well as supporting international clients operating in India.

Wallen joins MMA after more than a decade working across media, strategic communications and consulting in India. He was previously co-founder and managing partner of Montfort South Asia and South Asia bureau chief for The Daily Telegraph.

He has also worked as a South Asia consultant at Teneo and co-founded and hosted The Diplomat's Beyond the Indus podcast. At Montfort, his work included advising clients across financial services, infrastructure, real estate, technology, healthcare and luxury and consumer sectors.

“India is central to the future of what we are building,” said MMA founder Michael Macfarlane.“Joe brings the experience, relationships and cultural fluency to help Indian founders, families and organisations operate globally, and to help international capital engage with India properly.”

Wallen is also chairman of the British Business Group in India.

The appointment builds out MMA's Asian footprint, with Mumbai joining Hong Kong, Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Kathmandu among the firm's eight global offices. Its other locations are London and Lisbon.

Founded in 2019 and operating under the Michael Macfarlane Associates name since 2023, the firm specialises in reputation strategy for private clients, family offices, founders and private capital, with work spanning strategic positioning, media relations, geopolitical and reputational analysis, digital platforms and AI-mediated discovery.

MMA has increasingly positioned its offer around the changing role of reputation in an AI-mediated information environment, arguing that reputation strategy needs to operate across platforms, jurisdictions and global centres of influence rather than through traditional media channels alone.
