Afghanistan Grants Thousands of Visas Amid Diplomatic Developments
(MENAFN) Afghanistan issues more than 203,000 visas to foreign nationals over the past year as the government highlights developments in its foreign policy and diplomatic relations.
Government spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid says the country has expanded economic cooperation with neighboring states as well as major regional and international powers under what he describes as a “balanced and economy-centric foreign policy.”
Among the key diplomatic developments during the year are the establishment of diplomatic and consular ties with Kuwait, the upgrading of relations with Pakistan to the ambassadorial level and Afghanistan’s formal participation in the Moscow Format.
Mujahid also notes that Russia becomes the first country to officially recognize the Afghan government in July of the previous year.
On consular services, authorities issue 203,693 visas to foreign nationals during the period, while Afghan citizens living overseas receive 313,796 passports.
The government also provides 64,541 road passes, with passport-related services continuing to operate through 28 Afghan diplomatic and consular missions abroad.
