Brussels Airlines Resumes Tel Aviv Flight Despite Union Opposition
(MENAFN) A Brussels Airlines flight from Brussels to Tel Aviv leaves as planned Wednesday morning despite opposition from a labor union over the carrier’s decision to place Israel-bound flights on standard crew schedules.
Some cabin crew members reportedly objected to operating the flight, but management pressured them to carry out their assignments, according to reports.
The airline has restarted its Brussels-Tel Aviv service in recent weeks, initially relying on volunteers and management staff, including employees whose primary roles are office-based but who are also qualified to perform flight duties.
Since the start of September, Tel Aviv routes have reportedly been added to employees’ regular schedules alongside other destinations.
The ACV Puls union is challenging the decision, arguing that the airline has failed to honor earlier understandings reached with workers regarding flights to Israel.
The union submitted a strike notice Tuesday, calling for employees to have the option of declining assignments to Tel Aviv because of concerns over their safety.
