S'hail 2026 Launches Nabati Poetry Contest
According to Katara Cultural Village, the“Best Four Verses on Falcons” contest invites poetry enthusiasts to express their connection to falcons and hunting in a four-verse poem, highlighting the longstanding relationship between Nabati poetry and falconry in Gulf culture.
Entries must be written in Nabati verse, focus exclusively on falcons and contain four lines. The contest is open to participants in Qatar and abroad, allowing poets and enthusiasts worldwide to take part in S'hail 2026.
Participants should post their verses as replies to the competition announcement on X. The submission deadline is Monday, September 7, 2026.
The contest offers three prizes: QR4,000 for first place, QR3,000 for second and QR2,000 for third. The awards are intended to encourage distinctive portrayals of the falcon in Nabati poetry.
S'hail 2026 will also offer a course titled“Fundamentals of Falconry and Transport” for children aged seven to 12. Combining theory with practical instruction, it will introduce participants to handling and transporting falcons while promoting falcon welfare and heritage preservation.
The course will be held on September 6 and 7 from 4pm-6pm at Building 15. It is among programmes designed to involve children in the exhibition and pass falconry knowledge to a new generation.
Organisers said the programme is designed to extend beyond displays of hunting and falconry equipment by combining heritage, poetry, training and community participation.
The edition will include programmes, seminars and events addressing environmental issues, with a focus on engaging children and young people through modern technology and digital tools.
The Social and Sports Activities Support Fund (Daam) and Katara Cultural Village signed an agreement to fund the 10th edition of Suhail 2026. The funding will support the exhibition's organisation, sustainability and continued development as a leading cultural and heritage event in the region.
The agreement reflects the role of Daam and Qatar Stock Exchange-listed companies in backing cultural, heritage and sustainable development initiatives aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030.
