Nearly 3,500 Applicants Choose Military Education This Year

“The largest numbers of applicants were admitted by: Kharkiv National Air Force University – more than 700; the Military Institute of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv – more than 550; and the National Army Academy – more than 500,” the statement said.

It is noted that 100% of the planned number of applicants were admitted to the Military Institute of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, the Naval Institute of Odesa Maritime Academy National University, and the Military Law Institute of the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University.

According to the Ministry of Defense, Ukraine's military education system covers 121 specializations. They encompass a broad range of professional fields, from unit command, weapons and intelligence to law, medicine, psychology, logistics and international relations.

Military education is constantly adapting to the experience of modern warfare and the needs of the Defense Forces. Nearly half of the specializations offered at higher military educational institutions, military training units at higher education institutions and military colleges belong to the Security and Defense field of study, including military command, troop support, weapons and military equipment.

According to Deputy Defense Minister Liubov Halan, this broad range of training makes it possible to develop personnel not only for directly commanding units but also for the technical, medical, logistical, legal and other support of the Defense Forces.

One of the key changes in military education, the Defense Ministry emphasized, is the development of training for unmanned systems specialists.

“Military educational institutions offer specializations related to tactical and aviation unmanned systems, as well as the operation and repair of maritime unmanned systems. This responds to the challenges of modern warfare, where technological superiority, intelligence, strike precision and the ability to rapidly process information directly affect unit effectiveness,” the Defense Ministry said.

Ukraine is developing military education based on combat experience and the needs of the Defense Forces so that future officers are prepared to work with new technologies, effectively command units and make decisions in the conditions of modern warfare.

“This is an investment in the professionalism and technological capabilities of the military and its ability to ensure Ukraine's reliable defense,” the Defense Ministry concluded.

As reported by Ukrinform, more than 300,000 applicants have been admitted to bachelor's and master's programs at universities. Overall, more than 1 million university students are beginning the new academic year.
